JOHN GABBARD STATEMENT ON 48TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT RACE
LAGUNA BEACH, CA – (June 6, 2018) – Following is a statement issued by John Gabbard, Republican candidate for the 48th Congressional District:
“The voters of the 48th district have spoken and are sending Republican, Dana Rohrabacher, to the general election. “While this campaign will not go forward, it has been an honor and a privilege to be welcomed into the homes and meet so many of the great people of the 48th. The outpour of support from across the district has been humbling.” Gabbard said.
“I send my congratulations to Dana Rohrabacher and I hope that Scott Baugh prevails against the deceptive practices of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for the second spot in the November election. I urge them to stay focused on the issues of concern to the voters of this district such as boosting the economy and job growth, supporting legislations that lessen the crush tax burden on Californians, upholding the rule of law and fighting sanctuary states, opposing offshore oil drilling and plans to store spent radioactive fuel at the closed San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station one mile from base housing on Camp Pendleton, as well as address long-running complaints about noise pollution from commercial flights operating out of Long Beach and John Wayne International airports,” Gabbard added.
“This is a district of enormous potential filled with hardworking families and businesses, each striving to make our communities safe, prosperous and examples for the rest of California. I know they will make the right choice and send a representative who will work with the Trump administration on advancing a conservative agenda,” Gabbard said.
After serving in the Marine Corps and being honorably discharged with the rank of Major, Gabbard worked in the homebuilding industry, where he successfully bought, entitled or developed over 20,000 homes throughout the 48th District and California, giving him a first-hand view on the impact of burdensome regulations in crushing housing affordability and availability of new housing.
He earned his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and is married to Renee Gabbard and they have two children. Renee is a breast cancer survivor and John’s mother, Susan, a nurse, lost her battle with breast cancer in 1994, which has made women’s health a cornerstone of his campaign.
